Internal sheep milking system

| Posted by:

Read Industrial commissioned their first-ever internal sheep milking system.  40 bails of robust milking machinery at its finest.  Using the same trusted equipment and expertise incorporated into Read milking machines.  With the equipment requiring slight alteration to meet the requirements of sheep milking. Pulsation rates, clusters, vacuum levels, and pipeline sizes have been adjusted to suit the lower milk flows. The owner engaging  Reads to design and build a system that fulfilled his requirements, and we are pleased to say that he is very happy with the result.

Read 40 bail internal sheep milker on Donald rotary platform

sheep milking platform rotary sheep milking

The platform is a Donald Engineering design that allows the sheep to walk onto the platform and turn to face out. At the same time, a head crush rises in front of them and holds them in place and feed is presented in front. The operator stands in the centre of the platform to attach the cups and remove them when milking has finished. Once the sheep have done a rotation the head bail opens and folds under the bridge and the sheep are free to exit and head back to the paddocks.

This system is located near Hororata, Canterbury. The owner recently converted his farm to sheep milking but has been building up a flock of milking sheep over the last few years and milking them with Read bucket milker until now. Internal sheep milking systems and other sheep milking ventures that we are involved in are becoming sought after. We look forward to working with other farming businesses that are looking at setting up for sheep milking in the future.
